2019.09.16

The eve of the mid-autumn festival fell on September 12, 2019. Cheung Kei Group held a quarterly birthday celebration party for its employees, along with a mid-autumn festival gathering with the theme of “Cherishing the good times by the moonlight”, on the 30th floor of the Cheung Kei Center. Vice President Chen Pengyu, whose birthday also falls in the third quarter of the year, participated in the gathering with his colleagues.

A lively atmosphere at the gather

In the afternoon before the event took place, the staff from the Human Resources & Administration Department had prepared delectable snacks, tidbits, and a variety of fruits, as well as decorated the venue with balloons and colourful lanterns to conjure a mid-autumn festival vibe. A riddle is displayed below every lantern, and participants could solve the riddles in exchange for a small gift. It was an entertaining game, as only the first person to crack a riddle can receive a gift.

The third quarterly birthday celebration commenced as the host gave a rousing introduction to the event. The participants were divided into 5 teams - red, orange, purple, blue, and pink – with an eventual winning team from the scores tabulated from the two rounds of party games. VP Chen Pengyu also attended the gathering with his colleagues, enjoying the lively mood of the party.

The first game was“guess the song”, and as the first note of the music was played, players from the teams had to dash towards a chair for a chance to answer. Participants spared no effort to bring honour to their team, and teammates would stand on the sidelines to sing along with their teammates. Everyone had a blast and it set a vibrant mood for the gathering.

“Guess the song” game

If the first game is a test on the players' response, the second game, “shoot the bamboo”, was a competition of technique and brains. Each team gets 5 arrows to throw - into a hollowed bamboo cane, but as the mouth of the cane is narrow, all 5 teams were unable to land their arrows into their target. Then the host initiated a second element of the game, other players on the team can look around the room for bonus cards, to increase the chances and times their shooter can aim at the bamboo. Once that announcement was made, players were combing the room from top to bottom. Eventually, the orange team exhibited the strongest Cheung Kei spirit, they had perseverance, guts, creativity, and team spirit – their shots on target and the bonus cards received were miles ahead of the other teams, and they moved up the chart from number four to the first spot.

After the live roundsof games, a familiar melody began to play, as the room began to be filled with the tune of “Happy Birthday”, a cake was then brought onto the stage. VP Chen Pengyu then put on birthday party hats to all the employees celebrating their birthday, and also gave them his sincere well-wishes. The folks celebrating their birthday stood around the cake and sang a birthday song together, before making their wishes when blowing out the candle.

One shall also not forget about their parents on their birthdays, and a letter to the family, bridges the long distance to home. The company prepared some papers and envelops for each employee, so they can pen a letter to their family, for them to say the words that are usually unspoken. The Human Resources & Administration Department then helped to send out the letters, along with some photos of the employees at work, so that their family members can understand their work and life at Cheung Kei, no matter how far they may be. The company's development is fostered by the hard work of each and every employee, and the support of their family members is also vital. This heartfelt letter inspires our employees to show gratitude to their loved ones, to be aware of the responsibilities they carry, and also enhance the employees' loyalty to the Cheung Kei family.

Writing to family from the bottom of their hearts

The joint birthday party for the third quarter and the mid-autumn festival gathering concluded in a sincere and warm atmosphere. As one of Cheung Kei's trademark event, the quarterly birthday parties are planned and organized by a dedicated team. Every segment of the event reflects the care and concern the company has for all employees. It enriches their spirit, as well as team cohesiveness, and loyalty to the company, it also reflects on the unity of the Cheung Kei family.
