The first activity as the group arrived in Xiamen was a birthday celebration for the employees whose birthdays fall in the second quarter. As everyone sang a heartfelt rendition of the birthday song, the birthday stars made a wish as they blew out the candles. Staff from the Human Resources & Administration Department then distributed gifts, as everyone grabbed a slice of the lovely cake. The Xiamen trip was kickstarted in this amicable vibe.

A trip to Xiamen is not complete without a visit to Gulangyu. On the second day, the tour guide led the group to the ferry terminal, and everyone embarked on a trip to the hidden gardens of Xiamen, Gulangyu. The island enjoys stunning shores and seascapes, and it is imbued with a rich history and culture. The architecture on Gulangyuis exquisite, and through the tour guide's explanation of the origins of the island's names, and the stories behind the unique architecture, everyone learned more about the heritage of the island. No motor vehicles are allowed on Gulangyu, and everyone has to move around on foot. Although there are bustling streets and markets, there is no fumes and pollution. The group strolled around the island together, visiting old villas, enjoyed the relaxing street scenes, visited stores famous on the Internet, and had a wonderful time soothing their body and soul.

It was already evening after the group returned to mainland Xiamen from Gulangyu, and everyone split into smaller groups to walk around Zhongshan Road Walking Street. As the oldest commercial district in Xiamen, Zhongshan Road is hectic and lively even in the nighttime. The unique East-meets-West architecture and the modern LED lights across the city conjures a unique visual feast, while the delectable local snacks satisfied everyone's taste buds.

With its exquisite architecture and the hint of smoke and joss sticks in the air, it gives one asense of calm in just an instant. Xiamen University, known as the most beautiful university in China is located right next to the Nan Putuo temple. It is established by the patriotic business leader Chen Jiageng, and the tour guide shared with the group his dedication and immeasurable contributions to the education sector.
