Congratulations to Dr. Chen Hongtian for Receiving Highest Honour As an Individual for His Charitable Giving in Shenzhen

The "Fifth Pengcheng Charity Award & 2019 Shenzhen Philanthropist List Announcement" was held at the Plum Blossom Hall of Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Centre on 19 September 2020. Dr. Chen Hongtian, a member of the CPPCC National Committee, a Justice of the Peace appointed by the HKSAR, and Chairman of Cheung Kei Group attended the event, and received the Fifth Pengcheng Charity Award for "Top Individual Donor"; this is the highest honour that is awarded to an individual for their charitable giving in Shenzhen.

Over 500 guests attended the conference, including leaders such as Dai Beifang, Chairman of Shenzhen CPPCC; Tian Fu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee; Ren Kelei, former Secretary-General of Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Honorary Chairman of Shenzhen Charity Federation; Liu Fuqing, Vice President and Secretary-General of China Charity Alliance; Meng Zhiqiang, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Social Welfare and Charity Promotion, Ministry of Civil Affairs; Liao Yuanfei, Director of Shenzhen Civil Affairs Bureau and Secretary of the Party Group; Chen Qi, Deputy Director of Guangdong Civil Affairs Bureau; and representatives of the Eight China Charity Fair from 26 provinces (districts) across China, and Shenzhen charity organisations, businesses, citizens, and the media.

Since the Fifth Pengcheng Charity Award's application was launched in June 2020, it has received positive responses from all sectors of the community. At the meeting of the independent judging panel, a list of winners was selected by secret ballot. The panel consisted of representatives from the supervisory units, organisers, supporting organisations, and industry experts. A total of 119 individuals, businesses, organisations and projects were commended this year. According to the official statistics of the Pengcheng Charity Awards, Dr. Chen Hongtian donated a total of RMB 34,054,100 from 2018 to 2019.

Dr. Chen Hongtian is an active philanthropist. He supports various charities and social causes and has donated over HK$500 million to different organisations and campaigns over theyears. He has received numerous awards from the Pengcheng Charity Awards along with the company. In 2008, Cheung Kei Group first received the "Charitable Enterprise - Pengcheng Charity Award"; In 2010, Dr. Chen received the "Outstanding Contribution to Charity Award" at the Second Pengcheng  Charity Awards; In 2016 and 2018, Dr. Chen received the "Gold Prize in Donation as an Individual" at the Third and Fourth Pengcheng Charity Awards. In addition, he is recognised on the "Hurun Philanthropy List" as the "Top 100 Philanthropists in China, No. 47", and received the "Top 20 Influential Outstanding Person Award" at the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China in 2017. Dr. Chen is the Chairman of the Hong Kong Environmental Caring Charity, he has won the gold medal at the "Red Cotton Cup 2017" for poverty alleviation in Guangdong, and the "Top Prize in Leadership" at the 2018 Global Chinese Entrepreneur Awards. In 2019, Dr. Chen received the "Top 10 Caring Enterprise" award by Shenzhen Project Care, and accolades such as "Diamond Community Ambassador" at Shenzhen Community Chest's Walk for Millions, a Hong Kong "CaringCompany", and "40 Years Of Shenzhen SEZ: Outstanding Corporate Contribution inCSR".

This award is recognition of Dr. Chen Hongtian and Cheung Kei Group's commitment to fulfilling their corporate social responsibility, and his contributions to the development of social causes and charities over the years.
