On 25 and 27 August, Harmony Club invited the renowned Professor Larry Hsien Ping Lang for two sessions of “Harmony Club Lecture Session: Analysis and Prospect of Macroeconomic Trends”. The sessions were held at One Shenzhen Bay's Sky Concert Hall and Four Seasons Hotel, and provided the audience with insights to hot topics related to the China-US trade war. Dr. Chen Hongtian, a CPPCC National Committee member, a Justice of the Peace appointed by the Hong Kong SAR, and Cheung Kei Group's Chairman attended and gave a speech. While Cheung Kei Group's Vice President Chen Pengyu was also in attendance at the seminar.

Professor Larry Hsien Ping Lang kickstarted the session by sharing his views on the challenges and opportunities facing the Chinese economy currently, and then provided an analysis of the impact of the US dollar exchange rate, the US dollar index, the international crude oil market, and the commodity trading market to the exchange rate of the Chinese Yuan and the Chinese stock market, real estate market, manufacturing industry, and technological innovation. The executives and members from the banking and financial industry also interacted with Professor Lang on issues they are concern about respectively. Professor Lang's logical thinking, unique perspectives, and humour were met with rounds of enthusiastic applause.

Almost 600 participants from major banking institutions including Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Bank of Communications, Minsheng Bank, Ping An Bank, CITIC Bank, Industrial Bank, Huaxia Bank, China Huarong Asset Management Co., Ltd., Bank of Beijing, Bank of Shanghai, Bank of Jiangsu, Bohai Bank, Hang Seng Bank, Nanyang Commercial Bank, BOSC International Company Limited, Bank of East Asia, Dah Sing Bank, Chinatrust Commercial Bank, business executives from Shenzhen and Hong Kong, representatives of business associations, and mainstream media from Shenzhen and Hong Kong had attended the lecture session.
