On September 5, 2019, an event with the theme of “Charity Focus on Poverty Alleviation, Joining Hands to Create Better Lives” was held in Shenzhen to celebrate the annual Charity Day of China. The event was held in Shenzhen Civil Center, and results of the “Top Donor to Shenzhen Charities in 2018” and an overview to the series of activities organized during the “Shenzhen Charity Month 2019” was presented. For the Annual Shenzhen Charities List 2018, categories include: individual donors, corporate donors, and top charities based on donations received. In summary, 978 individuals, 579 businesses and 425 social organisations were acknowledged on the Annual Shenzhen Charities List in 2018.

Dr. Chen Hongtian, a CPPCC National Committee member, a Justice of the Peace appointed by the Hong Kong SAR, and Cheung Kei Group's Chairman was recognized on as a top individual donor to Shenzhen charities in 2018, donating 23.356 million Yuan inthe year.

Dr. Chen Hongtian's strong sense of social responsibly and acts of compassion has been well acknowledged by the committee of the event, the Shenzhen Municipal Government and the society at large. He has been a recipient of the Pengcheng Charity Awards in both the individual and corporate categories for several years consecutively. In 2008, Cheung Kei Group received the inaugural “Pengcheng Enterprise Charity Award”; in 2011, Dr. Chen Hongtian received the “Pengcheng Charity Outstanding Contribution Award” during the second year of the awards; in 2014-2015, Dr. Chen Hongtian received the “Pengcheng Charity Individual Donations Gold Award” during the third year of the awards for his generous donation of 31.46 million Yuan; in 2016-2017, Dr. Chen Hongtian received the “Pengcheng Charity Individual Donations Gold Award” again during the fourth year of the awards for his generous donation of 46.55 million Yuan.

Over the years, Dr. Chen Hongtian has been an ardent advocate of social causes such as poverty alleviation, education, and various charities. To date, he has donated over HK$500 million, and his outstanding contributions have been recognized by numerous accolades. In 2011, he was one of the 100 recipients of the “Global Outstanding Chinese Award” jointly-conferred by the Global Outstanding Chinese Association and the Chinese Literature Press. In 2017, he received “20 Outstanding Figures on the 20th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Handover”. In 2018, he received a “Leadership Prize” from the first inaugural Global Outstanding Chinese Awards.
