Dr. Chen Hongtian elected chairman of HKEPPA Charity

Dr. Chen Hongtian, CPPCC member, Hong Kong Justice of the Peace & Cheung Kei Chairman, attended on Sept. 20, 2017 the inauguration ceremony of the first board of directors of Hong Kong Environmental Protection Practitioners Association (HKEPPA) & HKEPPA Charity held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), and was elected chairman of HKEPPA Charity. Chen Dong, deputy director of LOCPG HK, Chen Lin, head of Youth Work Department and Liu Guoqiang, deputy head of Kowloon Work Department also attended the ceremony.

HKEPPA is dedicated to pooling resources from the industry to build a bridge for government-industry communication, bring sustained development to the environmental protection career, improve the life of the community and guarantee the health of all citizens. There are already nearly 3,000 practitioners joining the association since it was registered in July. Wang Liping, president of HKEPPA, said that Hong Kong has 200,000~300,000 environmental protection practitioners, among whom many are primary-level people in the most needy condition. For charity purpose, HKEPPA will provide good service and bring more care and harmony to the society.

In the ceremony, Chairman Dr. Chen said that there are many grass roots in Hong Kong in need of better life quality and greater social guarantee. Entrepreneurs should engage in all sorts of philanthropic activities in their own way. He expects the association to continue with its service and create more grass roots-oriented conveniences.

For years Chairman Dr. Chen and Cheung Kei have beenhelping promote the development of social philanthropic activities in Hong Kong, making all contributions possible to support the progressive social groups and care for the basic-level livelihood and the education among the young and creating prominent achievement for the region's economic prosperity. So far, the donations from all sorts of social non-profit services have added up to over 200 million yuan.

The ceremony was attended by senators of Legislative Council of Hong Kong, including Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee, Junius Ho Kwan-yiu, Eunice Yung Hoi-yan, Wilson Or Chong-shing, Priscilla Leung Mei-fun, Ho Kai-ming, Alice Mak Mei-kuen, Ben Chan Han-pan and Lau Kwok-fan.
