Cheung Kei Group received the Caring Company Award 2020/21 in Hong Kong recently. The group has received this award for the second consecutive year, as a testimony of the company's commitment to corporate social responsibility, care for the community, its employees, the environment, and work towards building an inclusive society.

The Caring Company 2020/21 Certificate awarded to Cheung Kei Group

Launched by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) in 2002, the Caring Company Scheme aims to foster strategic partnerships between the business and social services sectors to promote good corporate citizenship and create a more inclusive society. The scheme also helps corporations and social services organizations to know and understand one another at a deeper level. This will create more room for working together to develop cross-sector community projects that focus on the vital needs of the community.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the Caring Company Scheme has been able to quickly mobilise and deploy resources to provide more effective assistance to the underprivileged in our community. Over 4000 companies and social service organisations participated in the program, donating more than HK$420 million to various causes. Although businesses and organisations are also facing many difficulties and challenges today, they are still willing to extend a helping hand and share the burden with the public, to create a better future for Hong Kong.

Cheung Kei Group has actively participated in the fight against the epidemic through donations in the past year, through rent reductions to its tenants and public awareness campaigns, in a bid to tide over the difficult times with the people of the country. The group donated 100,000 face masks to the community in Hong Kong and donated HK$3 million to the Hong Kong Volunteers Federation, the AHK Fund Limited, the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, and other charitable or social service organisations. The donations were used to purchase anti-epidemic supplies, provide care for families in need, and offer assistance to SMEs and citizens in need of financial support.

The company participated in the "light up" event initiated by the Hong Kong Community Anti-Coronavirus Link, to honour and motivate medical workers by displaying supportive messages to frontline medical workers, and to urge the general public to work together to fight the epidemic, and overcome the challenges together. To help tenants who have been financially affected by the epidemic, the group also took the initiative to reduce rent, saving tenants over 20 million Hong Kong dollars.

While developing its business, the group continues to embrace environmental protection practices and the spirit of sustainable development. The Hong Kong Cheung Kei Centre and Shenzhen Cheung Kei Building participated in the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)'s "Earth Hour" campaigns, advocating energy-saving practices, and care for the environment through practical actions. At the same time, the office buildings operated by the group are committed to creating a green office environment for their tenants, by using energy-saving and environmentally friendly office products, to actively promote green and healthy office and operational philosophy.
