On November 8, 2018, Dr. Chen Hongtian, a CPPCC National Committee member, a Justice of the Peace appointed by the Hong Kong SAR, and Chairman of the Cheung Kei Group was invited to attend the "Investment Symposium for Modern Service Industry of China Science and Technology City –Mianyang" hosted by Sichuan Province's Mianyang City in Hong Kong. Liu Chao, the Secretary of the Mianyang Municipal Party Committee had attended and delivered a speech at the event, while Zou Ruoli, the Secretary-General of the Municipal Party Committee presided over the symposium. Renowned delegates and leaders from the Hong Kong business sector, including Wang Zaixing, the Founding Chairman of Hydoo International Holding Limited; Wu Huanyan, the Chairmanof Fly Up International Group (Holdings) Limited; and Ni Mu, the Vice-Chairperson of the Hua Jing Society were also in attendance during the symposium.

During the symposium, Dr. Chen Hongtian shared his views on Mianyang's rich pool of technological resources, its robust foundation, and infrastructure for the industry, and its environment conducive for building businesses. Hong Kong businessman Mr. Wang Zaixing had also recounted on his investment experience in Mianyang, giving testimony to Mianyang's vibrant investment environment. Mr. Wang had also shared his views on the issues that Hong Kong businessmen often face when investing in different places, and gave several recommendations to the Municipal Government of Mianyang on how they could attract Hong Kong investors, what they could learn from the Hong Kong government in terms of balancing financial services and awell-established legal framework for investment. He has also urged the Chinese authorities to take on a more pro-active role as a creator, practitioner, and defender in upholding the rule of law in society. A government that businesses can trust and rely on must abide by the spirit of contracts, maintain consistency and continuity in its policies, so businesses can have peace of mind, as their confidence in investing is boosted. When businesses are able to focus on their business development, they will, in turn, be able to contribute to their local economy.

In his speech, Secretary Liu Chao gave a warm welcome to all the guests of the symposium on behalf of the Mianyang Municipal Government and expressed their gratitude to the delegates from Hong Kong who has been continually supportive of Mianyang's development. Mr. Liu then gave an introduction to Mianyang's strategic role in China's overall development plan, its favorable environment and policies for the industry. He then concluded by welcoming the businessmen in attendance to visit Mianyang on business delegation trips, to invest in the local industry, and to sightsee. By tapping into the opportunities empowered by the infrastructure of China's Science and Technology City, businesses and the city can create enduring win-win relationships that will drive our successes in the future.
