Chairman Dai Beifang said that it was meaningful for Dr. Chen Hongtian, to organise this symposium as the convenor of CPPCC members in Shenzhen and the chairman of Harmony Club. He noted that when the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress passed the "Law of the People's Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" unanimously during its 20th session on June 30, it has successfully plugged the legal and institutional loopholes in the maintenance of national security in Hong Kong.
The implementation of this law is a major improvement to the "One Country, Two Systems" system, and has ushered the constitutional principle in Hong Kong to a new milestone. To fully achieve stability and safety in Hong Kong's society, it is imperative to continue putting the Hong Kong National Security Law into practice. The members and deputies to the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Hong Kong have taken a clear stance and played an active role in the process of the enactment of the law. Chairman Dai Beifang added that at this important juncture of the law's implementation, he hoped that the business leaders could speak up in their industries, their businesses, to guide and influence the people of Hong Kong through different channels and approach, so that all people of Hong Kong people would better understand the National Security Law. He encouraged the media to step up on its publicity efforts, to increase the general public's knowledge of the Hong Kong National Security Law.
Chairman Dai Beifang said that amid the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics, Shenzhen should continue to learn from Hong Kong, to serve Hong Kong, and continue to strengthen its cooperation with Hong Kong. All CPPCC members and representatives should make their presence felt both in Hong Kong and in the Mainland, and stabilise public sentiments, their employees, and their businesses through the stable development of their businesses and investments; they should contribute to the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong by speaking with their actions.

Dr. Chen Hongtian expressed his gratitude to Chairman Dai Beifang and Director Cui Minrong for attending and guiding the symposium despite their busy schedules. He then thanked all the reporters present for their long-standing support to Harmony Club. He said that in the past year, the people of Hong Kong has had enough of the vandalism and arson perpetrated by rioters, and they have suffered from the intervention of foreign forces. The introduction of the National Security Law in Hong Kong not only protects the lives and property of the people, but it also safeguards the fundamental interests of all Chinese people, including the citizens of HongKong.
Dr. Chen added that the deterrent effect of the National Security Law is evident, and the advocates of anti-China sentiments are now in disarray. The battle against the COVID-19 epidemic and the restoration of peace and order in Hong Kong have fully demonstrated the advantages of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics, and has been a good chapter to educate the Chinese society on the value of patriotism. Entrepreneurs in the business sector are very confident in the "Six Stability" and "Six Guarantees" policy proposed at this year's National People's Congress. Finally, Dr. Chen expressed his hopes that the media would convey the constructive message, views and opinions of the delegates present at the symposium to the general public.
