On December 26, 2019, Dr. Chen Hongtian, a CPPCC National Committee member, a Justice of the Peace appointed by the Hong Kong SAR, and Chairman of the Cheung Kei Group was invited to attend the “2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Listed Companies Annual Meeting and Corporate Social Responsibility Summit”. Dr. Chen participated in the roundtable discussion, and gave a speech on the topic of social responsibility and high-quality development. Over 600 people, including economists, representatives of financial institutions, chairman of listed companies, and experts from think tanks, attended the session.

Dr. Chen Hongtian shared that the central government's synergistic development strategy for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is a timely and prudent decision. The various cities of have their unique resources and strengths, and so the synergistic development would be conducive for resources sharing and could help unleash complementary advantages. Take Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Huizhou and other cities for example, they each have their own unique resources and strengths. As land is an expensive commodity in Shenzhen, some of their industries can be relocated to other cities in the Greater Bay Area, while the more intricate R&D activities could remain in Shenzhen.

Dr. Chen Hongtian believes that the entrepreneurial spirit and passion of Chinese entrepreneurs is a formidable assurance for the sustainable development of our country. And business leaders should do well in their business, as that would is their social responsibility, and their greatest contribution to society.

As a CPPCC National Committee member and Justice of the Peace appointed by the Hong Kong SAR, Dr.Chen Hongtian has always been concerned about the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. He has discussed the development of the region with the leaders of the government authorities, and fellow business leaders on numerous occasion, lending his expertise to the progress of the Greater Bay Area.
